Shape: Torpedo – elongated and rounded design
Handmade – each piece is unique
Capacity: approx. 150–200 ml (may vary due to natural material)
🧉 How to Prepare Your Mate
Fill the mate cup about ⅔ full with yerba mate.
Tilt the cup slightly so the yerba gathers on one side, forming a small slope.
Pour a little warm water (not hot) on the lower side to moisten the yerba. Let it rest for a few seconds.
Insert the bombilla (mate straw) into the wet area.
Add hot water (70–80°C) slowly near the bombilla — never boiling water.
Enjoy and refill the cup several times, always pouring water in the same spot to keep the flavor consistent.
🌿 How to Cure a Natural Mate Cup (Gourd or Wooden)
Before using your natural mate cup (calabaza or madera) for the first time, it’s important to “cure” it. This process seals the pores, removes bitterness, and extends its lifespan.
Steps to Cure:
Fill the cup halfway with used yerba mate (from a previous brew).
Add warm water until it covers the yerba.
Let it rest for 24 hours.
Empty and gently scrape the inside with a spoon to remove any soft residue (never use soap).
Let it dry naturally, upside down, in a ventilated area.
🔸 Tip: Repeat the curing process once more if the inside still feels rough or has a strong bitter aroma.
After that, your mate will be ready to enjoy and will develop its own unique character with time!
